ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF CHILDREN & FAMILY MINISTRY: JACOB NAVEY
ABOUT JACOB AND HIS FAMILY
Jacob Navey grew up in North Carolina. He and his wife, Hayley have been married since 2011, and have three children, Eli, Selah, and Canaan.
EDUCATION
Jacob received his Bachelor of Arts in history from UNC-Chapel Hill. He also recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Liberty University.
MINISTRY EXPERIENCE
Over the past four years, Jacob has served as the Pastor of Student and Kid’s Ministries at Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC, just outside of Charlotte. As the leader of these ministries, he has been responsible for leading weekly student meetings (both on Sundays and Wednesdays); overseeing the development of midweek kids' programming; as well as recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers for nursery through 12th grade. Perhaps his most important role at the church has been the leadership of the family ministry.
PASSION IN MINISTRY
God has given Jacob a passion to see families fulfill their God-given purpose. He believes it is God’s design for the parents to be the primary disciple-makers in the lives of their children. He sees clear evidence of this in Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6:4, along with other passages in Scripture. He thinks churches become strong when families are strong. Therefore, his goal would be to help equip parents to raise their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). Jacob says, “The church is strongest when each home is a ‘little church’ that produces disciples and preaches the gospel to the community. It would be my goal to lead a children's ministry that accomplishes this vision.”
JACOB'S HOBBIES
Jacob loves sports, rooting for UNC, reading, watching Marvel movies and shows, and playing games with his family.
